Microneedling with PRP

Microneedling is an ancient skin treatment that has grown in significant popularity due to the tremendous results it can produce in patients! Microneedling works by creating micro-injuries in the dermis that improves skin texture as well as stimulates collagen production. While microneedling is not a new treatment and offers benefits on its own, when it is combined with PRP (platelet-rich plasma) – the results can be astounding!

Microneedling has a multitude of skin benefits including reduced appearance of wrinkles and fine lines, reduced appearance of broken capillaries and spider veins, decreased size of pores, reduced appearance of acne scars, improved skin texture and elasticity, reduced appearance of sun spots, reduced appearance of hyperpigmentation, and more!

What is Microneedling

Microneedling is a safe and effective treatment for skin that can produce skin rejuvenation, skin tightening, and scar remodeling. Prior to your microneedling treatment, topical anesthesia is applied to the area being treated to increase comfort during treatment. Your trained provider uses a wand-like micro-device and glides it over the surface of the area being treated. While the device is being moved around the area, tiny needles are rapidly and gently piercing the skin which creates micro-injuries to stimulate collagen production.

What is PRP & How is it Beneficial in Conjunction with Microneedling

Platelet-rich plasma, or PRP, is platelets that are collected from a patient and injected back into the patient’s skin to facilitate and expedite cellular turnover that boosts collagen and elastin production. During the procedure, PRP is extracted by drawing a patient’s own blood. Once obtained, platelets are separated out using a special device that cleans the platelets and then puts them back into the microneedling machine and injects them back into your skin during the treatment. While microneedling is an excellent treatment on its own, when it is combined with PRP results are typically more dramatic and appear more quickly. The addition of PRP also expedites the healing process.
